Five Generations, One Passion
The history of the Hotel Santiago began to be written by a visionary woman, full of courage and determination, our grandmother Maria da Luz. In the mid-19th century, the Pension Maria da Luz was founded on the site where the Hotel Santiago stands today.
Over the years, the Pension's foundations have been strengthened by the family's tireless dedication. The founder's children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren have preserved and continue to preserve her legacy and passion for the business.
In the 1980s, Gena and João Pedro built Residencial Santiago, a milestone in the history of the family and the local hotel industry. Initially a modest guest house, it was later transformed into a hotel and stands out for its excellent service and cosy atmosphere that makes guests feel at home.
Today, under the leadership of the fourth generation, Hotel Santiago continues to be a reference point in the region, keeping alive the entrepreneurial spirit and dedication to hospitality that has characterised the family for five generations. With the grandchildren contributing to the business, the story of Hotel Santiago is more than a tale of success - it's a testament to the power of hard work, vision and love for the family tradition.
